OMG!!!! OMG! I don't even know where to begin with this book...

This is my FAVORITE book by Lisa Suzanne of all time! After I read the Blurb for A LITTLE LIKE DESTINY, I just could not wait to read this! I devoured this book in less than a day, more like less than 6 hours straight... Lisa Suzanne starts off the book right away and the storyline keeps at a great pace where I could not stop reading.

Reese finds herself living the aftermath of having a one-night stand with her rockstar idol, Mark Ashton.

"I'm just a girl who couldn't pass up her one shot at being with the rock star of her dreams."

Then hottie Mr. Brian Fox bumps onto the scene trying to win over Reese's heart as she is still reeling with emotions over her one night with Mark Ashton. This reminds of Reese & Brian's second chance meeting...

description

Then, we get to the twist, which you know about in the Blurb, but you will just have to read it to believe it!

"I fell in love with a rock star the last time I was here. How the hell was I supposed to know I'd fall in love with his brother next?"

In this love triangle I don't even know who I am rooting for, I want Reese and Mr. Fox, but then I want Reese & Mark Ashton. I don't know, I don't know, but all I know is that final scene just killed me!

description

This steamy love triangle is a MUST READ with a hot rockstar and a hot business tycoon making 'Reese's Summer of Sin in Sin City' quite an irresistible read!

AHHH I need Book 2 right now please, please, please... I will just go quench my thirst with Reese's drink from the night her one night stand and boyfriend are in the same room!

He nods to the counter. "What would you like? There's beer in the fridge, too."
"Vodka"
"With what? Orange juice? Soda?"
"With ice."

3 "pretty good, but not for me" stars

This story was extremely well written, and the naughty bits were hot and steamy. Unfortunately the story was just not for me. It's a love triangle between one girl and brothers, and for me it just doesn't work. I think the author did a great job making each of the guys equal. I didn't really come out of this favoring one over the other, but still. I think I'm not a love triangle person. It stresses me out too much.

If you like love triangles. I would absolutely recommend this one to you. It's angsty and full of steam at all points of the shape.

Undecided on whether or not I will be reading the next book. I want to find out what happens, but I also don't know if I can handle the triangle angst again!

I was hired to proofread this book. The only aspects of the story that I influenced were the spelling and grammar. If you feel that my connection to the book makes my review untrustworthy, so be it, but this is my honest review.

We all know that most teachers get summers off, but what do they do with all that free time? The answer just might surprise you. Alright, so clearly I don't think Reese is a representative of all teachers, for one thing, most of them live in places that are much more boring than Las Vegas. That doesn't mean that they don't have lives too though, and that's something I never really thought about as a kid, not even really during my teenage years. Granted, almost all of my teachers were married with kids, so it was a slightly different dynamic. I really enjoyed this glimpse into the potential summer life of a youngish schoolteacher. I also spent an inordinate amount of time having to remind myself that teachers are people too because somehow I ended up with rather puritan ideals where teachers are concerned.

Reese is a good girl who normally lives up to my puritan ideals for school teachers all on her own. But she can't resist the temptation of spending the night with THE Mark Ashton. Being a good girl, she's not equipped with the skills to successfully engage in a one and done relationship however. In order to get over Mark, she decides to get under Brian. I found her reaction to the one-night stand very believable considering what I know about her personality.

Prepare yourself to be consumed by these characters and book! A Little Like Destiny came very highly recommended by one of my book besties and it did not disappoint!! Adulting kept me from reading this cover to cover, but last night/this morning I couldn't put it down and finished at 4AM!

I enjoyed this twist on the classic love triangle and though I knew what was coming from the blurb, it still had a tremendous impact. You are so invested in the characters at this point and have been experiencing the roller coaster of emotions along with our heroine, Reese, that you can't help but feel her pain and confusion at the discovery. This book will have you questioning yourself as you try to figure out who to root for (if anyone at all!)
description
I'm not going to lie, some readers may have issues with certain events in the book, specifically choices made by Reese and Mark after the revelation that he is Brian's brother. I can understand and accept that for these characters it may fall into a grey zone, even if I personally disagree. This is fiction though and part of why I love the characters is that they're so relatable. We all make decisions in the heat of the moment, for better or for worse. Brian also makes some questionable choices that may make you wary about fully trusting him. It will be interesting to see the ripple effect of these decisions in the next two books.
A Little Like Destiny is book 1 in the trilogy, so yes, it does leave you hanging at the end, but have faith and enjoy the ride! Can't wait for book 2!

** ARC provided by the author for an honest review **

Romance author Lisa Suzanne’s first in a new series, A Little Like Destiny, mixes a rock star, bad boy and a successful business tycoon with an English teacher. There is a love triangle and secrets with a cliffhanger that will leave you begging for more.

Reese Brady is an English teacher, but that doesn’t mean she can’t be a dedicated fan also. For 10 years, she has followed her favorite band VAIL and her celebrity crush, lead singer Mark Ashton. Fate gives her a chance at one night with the love ‘em and leave ‘em bad boy. She doesn’t expect to develop strong feelings for him after just one night. She knows they can never be together and takes the initiative to stop her broken heart before she is truly broken.

A few chance encounters with gorgeous business tycoon, Brian Fox, lead to an increasingly meaningful relationship. Brian has secrets, but he treats her like a queen. Reese may be falling for him, yet she still can’t get that one night out of her head. Then one of Brian’s secrets is revealed and it changes everything.

“I fell in love with a rock star the last time I was here. How the hell was I supposed to know I’d fall in love with his brother next?”

Wow! I devoured this book. I have a weakness for bad boy romances, especially rock stars. At the same time, I love a take charge, confident businessman. Reese lives out her ultimate fantasy.  Mark Ashton is not at all what I associate with the normal rock star type in a romance novel. Swoon worthy and heart soaring, which is how Mark made me feel. Then there is Brian. I know he has some huge secret coming and I am not sure how I will react to that, but for now, let’s just say if you can’t have Mark, Brian is an excellent substitute. This book drew me in. I don’t know which brother I am rooting for; both have that hot brooding male magnetism. Keep the title in mind when you’re reading, cause the meaning behind it is the sweetest thing. I give this wonderful beginning to a series 5 stars and I cannot wait for the next one. Seriously, when can I get my hands on it?!

Terrible love triangle. None of the characters are relatable.

We are supposed to put ourselves in the role of Reese, an everyday girl, who has two men (powerful, rich, successful, yadayadayada) vying for her love. Except Reese keeps going back and forth and telling us how she is not a slut. Both of the guys are just coming on too strong and the conversations are not at all realistic - or if that's the case, the interactions are down right creepy.

The book starts with Reese waking up from a one-night stand with rock star Mark. And she proceeds to tell us how she is not one of them groupies but she couldn't pass up the chance because she has been obsessed with the guy since forever. You know what? I don't care. You want to have sex with a handsome stranger ? Own it, have fun. I am not judging. But it seems like Reese is judging all the other groupies.

Moving on... Reese goes on dates with successful businessman Brian while daydreaming and getting hung up on her amazeball night with Mark. Not cool. Oh, and how did those two started going out? Because Brian offered to pay $10,000 to Reese's high school on the condition she had dinner with him. Not flattering. Manipulative.

Mark is the least annoying character because he is not in the book enough to be annoying.

The worst? The story goes on for THREE books.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Holy freaking FEELS dude! ****takes a deep breath and tries to calm down*** YOU. GUYS! I was IMMEDIATELY pulled into this one!

So when we meet Reese she's pretty much waking up from the night of her life, why? Because she's just had one HOT. STEAMY. SEXY night with her idol! Lead singer of her favorite band (Vail) Mark Ashton. She's loved this band for the last 10 years, their songs and words have meant so much to her and spending the night in Mark's arm was a dream come true but now what? Does she sneak out while he's asleep? Leave her number? Make him breakfast? She makes a decision.

"I threw my morals away for one night with a legend"

Deep in her thoughts about Mark and everything that just went down Reese literally bumps into a tall dark and incredibly handsome man. Brian. Brian Fox. (Foxy if you're nasty) he's all smart suit, brilliant mind, gorgeous face and cocky smile. Brian wants more than Reese is initially willing to offer but he's a businessman so he knows how to be persistent and convincing. Brian and Reese eventually fall into a easy friendship and that blossoms into a relationship.

Things are going well in Reese's life. Since she's an English teacher so she has the summer off to hang with her best friends and be with Brian. Reese does struggle from time to time. She can't get Mark out of her mind. Often flashing back to their night. The connection she felt, the tenderness and the mind blowing passion. Did it really happen? Did he mean all the things he whispered, the secrets he shared? He's known as a womanizer, always a new groupie every night. So why would she be any different right?

“Be creative.” His voice is a sharp demand, and I can’t tell if he wants me to prove it with my body or with words. “I trust you,” I say. He chuckles, but there’s no humor behind it. “Actions speak louder.” Body it is."

Flash forward to Brian bringing Reese home to meet everyone and BAM!!!!!! She locks eyes with Brian's brother.....F-ing MARK!! AHHHHHHH! I nearly died! You must experience this moment it's SO intense. There's some underlining sibling rivarly that comes into play, some major secrets and all around shady shenanigans! Eeep!

"He kisses me in a way that tells me everything he wants to say. He tells me it wasn’t just in my head. That night was different—for both of us. The connection we shared was special."

Now, the end of the book. THE. END. OF. THIS. DAMN. BOOK! I've NEVER read anything quite like it. As I was reading it my jaw was UNHINGED! Lisa Suzanne went THERE. Like.....ALL the way there. My thoughts were, "Is this actually happening?" "Surely, this is a dream sequence" "Is he?" "But didn't they just" "Oh. My. Gawd. This is so wrong but still so hot" I DIED. I'M DEAD! I need MORE!! In my heart there's a clear choice for Reese but sometimes my head gets in the way and I think she should choose the other. Who would YOUR choice be?

“It’s not fair,”“You were mine first, and I can’t stop thinking about you. Not even for a second since that night.”

*thank you to the author for providing an arc*

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Get ready for a book that will grab you from page one and hang onto you till the last page. Just when you think you know which pair you are rooting for the other one makes a move and suddenly you are rooting for them. Lisa Suzanne nails the first book in her new series A Little Like Destiny and once you read it you will be rooting along with the rest of us.

Reese is a teacher who has always followed the rules. One night she attends a Vail concert with her friend Jill and ends up spending the night with Mark Ashton from Vail. But instead of waiting around for him to push her out the door the next morning she leaves without a trace. As the week goes on she can't get that one night out of her head and wonders if he feels the same, but knows it's just a pipe dream and she should move on. And moving on leads her to Brian.

Brian owns his own business with two of his friends. When Reese ends up there to ask for a donation for her school, he comes up with a way to not only give her the donation but spend more time with her. When she accepts, she soon realizes that she like Brian and wants to spend more time with him. As their relationship grows they spend almost every free minute with each other at Reese's house, but never at Brian's. When she asks, he says that has roommates and it's just a temporary place. When Reese finally does end up at Brian's for a party she realizes why she hasn't been there yet, his brother is Mark Ashton.

While Reese has feelings for Brian, still can't deny the attraction she feels for Mark. But who will she choose? Will she stay with Brian and give it a chance? Or will she give up a good thing for a chance with Mark and something more?

This was a well written story and the way it flowed was pretty awesome. Since I'd read the synopsis and knew what the story was about, I experienced this tension that honestly made me enjoy the story more as I waited for what I knew was to come. And oh boy did that moment come full force.

I had so many conflicting emotions about all the main characters of the book. Sometimes I loved them, others I didn't. The secondary characters had me frustrated or loving them at different times as well. But I was fully invested in the story the whole time. I needed to know how it ends. I needed to know how everything would work out.

By the time the story was done, I felt like I had been wound so tight and I didn't get to ease back with the conclusion. I was still left with questions and now need to wait for more answers. It was overall a pretty darn good reading experience. Not heavy on angst but kept you constantly hooked. If this was a glimpse into how this author writes, I'm interested in reading more.

"What do you want from me?" I whisper. He's close enough that I can smell peppermint. I catch the faintest hint of sandalwood.
"Everything," he whispers back.

Reese Brady is the girl who grew up with posters of Mark Ashton on her wall, but she never imagined that she'd end up in his bed. She had one night with the rock star, but she wishes there was more. She needs to move on because it was only a one night stand. She meets Brian Fox and finally starts to put that 'one night' behind her until... she finds out Brian is Mark's brother.

Do not judge this one by the blurb. Yes, Reese sleeps with a rock star. Yes, she ends up falling for his brother. BUT. There is so much more. Lisa Suzanne has raised her angst meter with A Little Like Destiny. It starts as a slow burn that will grab hold and mesmerize you, until the very last page. I kept waiting for Mark to show back up, but I thought things would go a different way than they did. Holy cheese and crackers!! It ends in a cliffhanger. A BIG one. You get all the feels with this one... it makes the ending so worth it (and it just means you'll get more Mark Ashton... it's a win win).

This is one of those books that you will devour and possibly stalk Lisa Suzanne as you wait for the next book... (if Lisa is reading this... seriously... more writing, we need book 2).

* 2.5 Stars *

A Little Like Destiny by Lisa Suzanne is a contemporary romance about a teacher caught in a love triangle between two brothers. This is my first book by this author, and I'm on the fence about it. The writing was done well, and it kept me reading, but there wasn't much of a story.

Most of the book is Reese's thoughts as she flounders in confusion about her feelings about Mark and Brian. Nothing else really happens. Well, that's not entirely true. Sex happens and plenty of it, but that's pretty much it. We're either reading a sex scene or reading Reese's thoughts about the attraction or love she feels for two different men.

I kept waiting for her big secret to be revealed and was interested to find out how everything was going to turn out. Well, the big reveal never happened and the book ends on a cliffhanger with no resolution. I'd like to know the ending, but not badly enough to buy the other books.

Not worth it.

I do not understand how this book had good reviews or even why it was made into a series. The writing style itself had me rolling my eyes more than once. The main character is 27, yet sounds like a 15 year old. She was completely wishy washy. I couldn't care less about her. Now add the men in this story. We have the rock star who has minimal page time (except for all the times the h was thinking about him). Then the boyfriend, who starts off ok and then leaves you cold. This book is really bad. There are so many other book out there, spend your time with those instead.

Reese has just had a great night with the rockstar of her dreams.
She’s been in lust with Mark, lead singer of Veil since forever. Tonight after his concert they had a great night together but she knows this is what it is and nothing more because straight laced school teachers like her don’t do this. So she leaves him asleep in the light of dawn but she’ll remember him forever. As she’s running out into the lobby she meets a very handsome man with beautiful green eyes. After that morning run in with Brian and she rejects his offer of coffee, fate throws them together again. He’s a good guy, rich, handsome and she starts to fall for him. Smooth sailing right? Well no, because one night after a couple of months of dating, Reese and Brian attend a party at Marks place. Brian informs her that Mark is his brother and she is flabbergasted. Lots of things happen after this, one things for sure I don’t trust Mark or Brian very much. I was a little upset the way this book ended but not surprised. I can’t not read book two so I’m on my way. I do give this book five stars and highly recommend it.

5++ stars but prepare yourself because this leaves you with a huge cliffhanger.

Reese is a school teacher in Vegas and is getting the opportunity to meet Mark Ashton who just happens to be the rock star she has majorly crushed on for years. Reese’s friend is making all of this happen by getting the backstage passes for the girls to meet this heartbreaker. Reese has been to Vail concerts before but this time she would have sworn that the sexy rocker was actually making eye contact with her a few times during the concert but then again don’t most girls hope that the rocker is singing just to them.

When Reese meets Mark face to face she is feeling this strange and overpowering connection and isn’t sure if he is feeling the same thing so she just brushes it off. When Reese is given the chance to leave the venue with Mark, she does what most women would do…she went even if it was for just one night. Within Reese’s mind and heart she felt this crazy connection with Mark and would have sworn he felt the same. They seemed to speak to each other about things you wouldn’t just tell anyone so maybe this is why she thought there was some kind of connection. Once morning is starting to break Reese figures that this is all status quo for the rocker according to all the things she’s read so she wants to leave on her own terms before he tells her to go.

As she gets off the elevator with her tear stained face she runs into a brick wall…that brick wall’s name is Brian Fox who just happens to be the next big up and comer businessman in Vegas. After declining his offer for coffee they meet by chance again and this time she gives in to his offer for dinner. Even with the heavy heart she has right now Brian is a real deal with looks that could be on a magazine cover and who seems to have his life right on track for success.

Don’t let the cliffhanger stop you from reading this fantastic rock romance. This author has thrown so much at you that you just have to keep turning those pages to see what all the secrets are and whose heart is going to be broken.

I received this ARC for a freely given and honest review.

I need more and I need it NOW!

Oh the confusion and absolute nightmare of a choice to have to make! Who to choose? Just who? I have fallen in love with both men in this story; the super sexy, lusted after, superstar singer, the temptingly, gorgeously unattainable Mark? Or the equally beautiful, totally adorable, totally committed, full on in love with you and fully attainable (but really second best) Brian? I am in a complete daze as to who Reese should pick. Why, oh why, can't she have both? A simple solution really but, obviously it's a hell of a complicated decision to make.

I'm hooked on this book; I can feel the push and pull that poor Reese is going through. It is a very tough thing and my bloomin' emotions are shot!

I have never read a book by Lisa Suzanne before but I am waiting for the next one with baited breath; that's for sure. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride this story took me on; this book is very well written, and kept me reading frantically to find out what happens next. A fantastic must read.

WARNING: The following has a huge cliffhanger!!

But if you can get past that, it seriously is one of the best books that I have read in quite some time. Very unique storyline. Awesome love triangle-rock star/high school teacher/businessman romance. Her miscommunication ( no communication....un-communication?... avoidance of a painful topic!!) is setting them all up for some serious hurt. I think we may have a closet hussy in our midst, if the ending is any hint. I really liked this one.

**CAUTION: Be prepared to be grinding your teeth in frustration LOL.

DNF at 37%. NOPE NOPE NOPE.

It annoyed me to no end how Reese would go back and forth. She pushed herself into being with Brian, but kept thinking about Mark even though it was a one night stand. I don't care if it was with a rock star, there's no reason for her to obsess over it whether she had a fantastic night or not. Plus I just hate how quickly she jumped into being with Brian physically too. "I'm not usually this way but I need to have a summer of sin" mindset was just all so eye roll inducing.

I know Brian and Mark end up being brothers based on a review I saw accidentally so I can just imagine how much more eye rolling I would do if I continue the series.

{I received this in exchange for an Honest Review}

This book was so Good!! Man it had my emotions all over the place. I didn't know how to think or feel. I haven't read a love triangle in a long time but this was so so good. I loved it. The angst and chemistry between these characters was HOT! She is stuck between two SEXY AS HELL brothers. Only one doesn't know about her feeling for the other. The Rock Star and the Business mogul, One with an intense connection, and one that is Perfect for her. How can she choose between Mark and Brian? She knows someone will get hurt in the end and it will more than likely be her.

Reese spends one amazingly sexy night with non other than world Famous rock star Mark Ashton who she has had a crush on for 10 years. She feels a deep connection more than just sexual. She thinks and hopes he feels it to but she can't chance her heart on him feeling the same way so she leaves before he wakes up. After an Amazing night she thinks she could be in love with him but she knows he doesn't feel the same way. He is a rock star with a different girl in his bed every night there is no way he could feel anything for her. So she knows she needs to forget about him and move on with her life. That's when she meets Brian Fox. He is sexy and very persistent an getting to know her. Brian is sweet and so good to her and they have amazing chemistry. He is everything she needs. She can see herself settling down with him and she can feel herself falling for him. Even though she still thinks about Mark and their night together Brian is also filling up her memories and her heart. Then the rug is pulled out from under her when she finds out that Mark is Brian' brother. All the memories and feelings from her one night with Mark come crashing back. She was never supposed to see him again, she was moving on. Then Mark looks at her and she can see she was wrong he did feel something that night and now he wants his chance.

Both relationships were different but so great! Reese and Brian were so cute and adorable and so sexy! He really loves her and she might love him to.

"He shoots me a smile that's hot enough to melt my panties right off and it's confirmed I'm smitten"(Reese and Brian)
How cute is this?! They are so adorable.

Reese and Mark are so passionate and sexy. Forbidden but so good. They have a connection that can't be denied.

"It's not fair, You were mine first, and I can't stop thinking about you. Not even a second since that night."(Mark and Reese)

These two brothers are both amazing! When I started I really wanted to hate Mark but I don't he is so amazing I Love him so much! I loved Brian from the beginning. He is so adorable and so sexy. Mark is definitely sexy but he is also so sincere and so passionate. Just like Reese I Love both brothers. The ending killed me that cliffhanger was so good! This book is Amazing! I love it!

3.5 stars!!

What a ride this book was! Reese has a dream night with her rock and roll idol followed by meeting the man who could possibly be her future….but there’s a twist! Brothers, that’s right they are brothers. Let me try to fill you in without giving anymore than that away!

Reese is a twisted up mess between her one night with Mark Ashton, lead singer of her favorite band VAIL. After just one night she can’t get him out of her mind. She’s kind of obsessive over it: should she have left her number, could it have been more, what is he doing now, better yet WHO is he doing now. When she meets the sexy, successful and persistent Brian Fox she slowly begins to move forward. Although she takes several steps back to reminisce over Mark, she just can’t seem to get past it (she was giving me whiplash!!).

“I’m back to this weird dynamic of wanting to be with him versus extreme hesitance to get into something I’m not ready for….” “I need to push myself to move forward.”

We know from the synopsis that Mark and Brian are brothers, so no surprise there, for us at least. Waiting for that ball to drop had me on the edge of my seat. That’s a big secret and I just wanted to shake Reese and tell her to open her eyes and figure it out, not that there are any solid clues whatsoever for her.

The more we learn about the brothers and their relationship, the thicker the angst gets. I still don’t know who to believe, they say things about each other that just don’t seem to match up to what we see. Is Brian just trying to protect himself from getting hurt by exemplifying Mark’s promiscuity and making him the bad guy? Is Mark trying to steal Reese back with sweet talk and smooth lies or is his heart really in it?

You will be kept constantly wondering who will steal her heart and get to keep it. She truly loves them both but who will be the right choice. The rollercoaster of this one was worth it and I can’t wait for more, I need to see what Reese is going to do. I know who I am rooting for but my lips are sealed!!

“I want to reassure him, want to tell him he doesn’t have to worry about that with me. But right this very second, I’m not sure that’s a promise I can keep.”

ARC received for an honest review

Anyone who has read my reviews knows thqt I am sucker for a rock star (well, not literally, but if they opportunity arose, well, who knows hehehe) so picking up A Little Like Destiny was a no brainer for me.

We've all had that dream/daydream where we get to meet our favourite rock star, and this is what happens to Reese. She is a quiet and reserved, but goes all out when she meets Mark for one night of passion.

Or is it?

Then she meets Brian (who for me in the end I liked a lot more than Mark). She is falling for Brian, but lusting after his brother. Ugh, and this, for me is where things started to fall apart a little.

It was not the fact they were brothers, it was more the fact the way she was leading both guys on. Don't get me wrong, I could understand her being torn between the two, however there was something about the way Reese went about things that irked me.

I got to about 60% and I had to roll my eyes. By 70% I was telling both buys to run run away.

I think Reese just needed to grow up and grow a pair! But this could just be me.

My heart hurt for the two men she was stringing along, and I just wanted to hug them both.

Now, don't get me wrong, I did like the story, it was just her!

We are left on a bit of a cliffhanger with A Little Like Destiny, but the second part comes out in September, so it is not too long before we get our conclusion.

As much as things irritated me, I am invested in finding out what happens with Reese, Mark and Brian.

Take 3! Lol never try review on your phone. Anyways, I've never been so consumed with a book as much as I have with this book! I have so many thoughts, feelings, and emotions about this entire book and I don't even know where or how to even begin to describe everything I'm feeling & thinking! Damn love triangles! I wouldn't even know what I would do in Reese's position. That ending though. Gahh that ending! I may have yelled out loud noooo & whyyyy when I read the ending. This is the fastest I've ever read a book! I Immediately started the second book, because I need to know what happens. Lisa never fails to always suck me in from the very beginning to the very end of the book! I am still trying to wrap my head around the ending. I don't even know how to feel right now!!! The first night I read this, I read 4 chapters which is soo unlike me, but I couldn't put this book down no matter how hard I tried! Ok, I didn't try very hard to put this book down lol because I couldn't stop reading & I didn't want to! I read this book every chance I got! Lisa gave me 2 new book boyfriends to fall in love with! I feel so torn lol! One of them happens to be a very sexy rockstar! I loved this book so much! This needs to be a movie! I need to see it played out on the screen! I would love for Passionflix to turn this Book series into 3 movies! One movie for each book!
