The Torn Duet #2

Choosing Forever

Rate this book
Life is made up of choices.
Single choices like bricks laid out in a path. A path that leads to your future.

At twenty four years old, I would have never guessed I would be stuck between two men—two men from opposite spectrums of the universe.
Their lives, their worlds, their demeanor is as different as the darkest of nights and the lightest of days.

I love them both, but I have to choose.
There is only one choice I can make.
And I choose forever.

CHOOSING FOREVER: I'm going to make this as spoiler free as I possibly can because you need to go into this series/this book completely blind to appreciate it fully, to feel everything the author puts you through because believe me those feels are going to come at you at turbo speed.

This picks up right where book#1 ended, us hanging over that cliffy wondering what was going to happen, would he survive, who would she choose, which one did she love more than the other? So many unanswered questions and they all finally get answered in this book the final installment.

Mia finds Hawk in bed unresponsive from an overdose

That one constant in her life Josh, the one who always makes her smile, holds her up when she’s down.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I love them both, but I have to choose. There is only one choice I can make. And I choose forever.

At the age of Twenty-four Mia never thought she'd be in the process of loving not one man but two, two as different as chalk and cheese. The rocker vs the lawyer.

One called her 'Princess' the other called her 'Sunshine'

GAH what a train wreck of a rollercoaster of a ride, my emotions were up and down and all over the place with this book, I cringed, I swooned, I sighed, I raged and last but not least I cried..Yep I cried!! Such a bittersweet book, one minute I was high the next I'd reached the low where that curve ball came at me concerning the one that she didn't end up with..My heart got ripped out!! But at the end of it the author had put it back together..

Holy hell! Choosing Forever was the perfect sequel and conclusion to the Torn Duet. I read it in one sitting. I couldn't freaking stop! I enjoyed Torn Between Two but Choosing Forever was in another league. Whereas I didn't connect with Sam, Hawke and Josh in the first book I was all in this time around. My emotions went through the wringer. Like a roller coaster ride. It was freaking insane how I hurt and swooned.

Choosing Forever succeeded with everything. Yes, Sam, Hawke and Josh made mistakes but that's what life's about. Life's about loving, learning and living. And throughout that life you make choices and mistakes. I didn't agree with some of those choices Sam, Hawke and Josh made but I could definitely relate and understand. That's what Mia Kayla succeeded with in Choosing Forever. The authenticity and believability of the characters and the overall story. It wasn't all roses and fairytales. It was and felt real.

I'm exhausted. I'm drained from all the emotional overload but it was totally worth it. Yes, there were times I was pissed off and biting my nails but that ending. Phenomenal. The Torn Duet was my first books by Mia Kayla and she definitely made an impact on me. She hit me where it matters most. My heart.

FOR GOODREADS

This Book! This book was a roller coaster of emotions. And I loved....LOVED every second of it! I know i'm a little late into the band wagon of going all Ga-Ga over this book...but I guess in a way you're never to late right? Because i LOVED this book! Josh...Sweet Josh was always my favourite! I was always rooting for him from the very beginning ..even though I 'enjoyed' all 'my experiences' with Bad boy Hawke. I Loved Hawke but i hated him too...you couldn't help but have this deep underlying feelings for him...but..come on...we knew we were all rooting for Josh at the end of the day!

Choosing Forever
Mia Kayla
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The story picked up from where it left as Hawke was still unconcious and Sam had to leave courtesy of Allan. I have literally cried and begged that Sam's pain would go away.
It was getting better with Josh and Sam when the wedding day came. I felt Josh's love surround Sam and it was like comfort for me too. As I have said on my last review I am absolutely Team Josh here. I even listened to Adele's song the one they danced on together and closed my eyes dreaming of them both.
And when Sam said the magic L-word I couldn't be more happier. I wish that was the end. That was how it should have ended, Sam and Josh in utter bliss. BUT. Of course Hawke's mom had to die and all hell broke loose. With one hook up and one mistake it had to end.
Sam was then pregnant with Hawke's baby, I knew it in my gut it was his. But even though it was Hawke's, the way Josh gave Sam a second chance was heart wrenching. She does not deserve the guy, really.
There were so many realizations and truths the writer gave and I agree to them. In life you make mistakes, but if you repeat it again and again you'd a damned fool.
I never anticipated the ending to be like that (readers you need to read it to know what I am talking about), truly it was unexpected.
This story reminded me of new beginnings, forgiveness, a lot of heartache but in the end it will always be worth it.
The letter for Sam made me tear up big time.
To a person who doesn't love lightly Hawke really tried, and he really loved her in a way he was only capable to show. Sadly it was not enough.
I never asked for a more beautiful ending on this one. This baby deserves 5 stars or more!!!

I love Everything about this book! First, it was a love triangle that was written very well. It was angsty, and it messed with my emotions. I was sad, angry and happy and more. When a book makes me feel every emotion possible, that's a good book! The choices in this love triangle was a bad boy vs Good Boy. Usually, I go with the bad boy but I felt so connected to the good boy(Josh). He is what I look for and want in the ultimate book boyfriend. I could not put this book down! It will remain in my heart and at the very top of my favorites list! This book will rip your heart out and put it back together. It's a must read that you shouldn't pass up!

Loved the conclusion of this story! I will not give anything away as to how this love triangle all played out, but I am now highly recommending this duet series to all my friends!

This is one I will not forget because it was so different than many of the other rocker books I've read. I devoured both books in a matter of days.....so good!

5+ stars!

I adored this book, damn my emotions!
Definitely one of my favorite reads so far.

review-blog

I was waiting this book with such eagerness. The first book, Torn Between Two literally swept off my feet. A story about a woman torn about her love for two men, torn about the choices she had to make.

I had a certain idea about how things were turning out. As the story unfolds, I wasn't expecting this. I was knocked over. Damn my heart, I didn't know if I was going to lose my mind, my emotions were all over the place.

I was fully invested in this story. With all my heart. How a book can make you feel it so much? The pain was sometimes unbearable, almost real. The words were powerful, bringing emotions into life.

It was time for Sam to choose.

Hawke or Josh?? It was overwhelming, whirlwind, making my heart race. I was addicted. Sam's choices drove me at times mental, alternating with joy and sadness then heartbreak.

I was seeing some characters in a new light, like the fog of love I was into disappear. Sometimes in love you want to see the good in people, but is Sam going to heal the darkness of Hawke soul?

She was the one who could see past his rockstar status, the real him, with some heavy baggage. But if all she experienced was just a dream, a fantasy?

Was Josh the one? This honesty and forwardness moved me, his love for Sam is kind of one you have once in a lifetime. Something real. The kind of one that lasts. I didn't know how many times I swooned over Josh, how for once he wanted to fight and not letting a rockstar taking way the only woman who held his heart.

I totally get it, how you can love two people at the same time.

Once again I was torn like Sam. The more I read, the more I was wondering where the author would lead us.  I might not be agree with some parts of the book but I knew it was necessary. I watched the characters growing, and learning from their past mistakes. They matured.

Fighting for their love so fiercely, intensely and passionately.

Trust me Mia Kayla made me work for it. The price of happiness is a long road, with in between a lot of hardships to overcome. But if you follow your heart, you know that you are in the right way.

Everything happens for a reason and when you read Choosing Forever you know why.

I won't tell you the issue of this story. It's a journey you have to discover by yourself, because life is just like that, ups and downs bumping in the way, definitely not a straight path. Just worth it. I fell in love with these characters who completely captured my heart. And I definitely choose Forever. Without hesitation!

Get ready for one emotional ride! I could not put this book down and burned right through it. Honestly, I am still sorting through my feelings after finishing this book. It had some incredibly beautiful and swoony highs, but man, those lows were rip your heart out brutal. The story picks up right where book 1, Torn Between Two, leaves off, so do not read this book unless you've finished that one first.

Sorry that this review is intentionally vague. I don't want to be spoilery, but just trust that each character had to make their own journey, whether you agree with their decisions or not. Yes, there is drama and angst. Yes, there will be moments that you want to throw your book/kindle against a wall. When all is said and done though, you will see that Hawke, Sam, and Josh all loved in the way that they knew how, for better or for worse. Even though Josh will forever be one of the best book boyfriends of all time in my eyes, Hawke has his moments too. This story isn't just about a love triangle. It's also a story about forgiveness, acceptance, and the meaning of family. The ending was certainly bittersweet, but I don't think it could have ended any better. Go read this amazing duet!

4,5. Livro realmente maravilhoso.

Choosing Forever (The Torn Duet #2) by Mia Kayla
4 stars!!!

“Life is about choices. And these choices have consequences.”

Choosing Forever was one of those much-anticipated reads for me. Mia Kayla left us on a doozie at the end of book one, Torn Between Two and my mind had been running a mile a minute ever since. I love a good love triangle with the best of them and even when you think you know what is going to happen Mia Kayla intimates something, or our heroine does something and you just know that the story is far from over.

“You’ve been my girl since the day I slipped that glass slipper onto your foot. You’ve just been slow on the uptake.”

Normally with a love triangle, you always have a front runner, one of them is always a clear-cut choice and while these two were inherently different and total opposites I could see the best in the both. In fairness, if we were going for the more stable, loving, reliable and down to earth fit, then Josh would be the winner hands down. But Hawke, for all his faults, his insecurities and his battles with his inner demons, alcohol and drugs, I felt actually loved Sam, at least the most love that Hawke was capable of giving. Hawke trusts no-one, he loves no-one so for him to have that connection with Sam you always knew that she was special. But as with any resident bad boy, they always have a knack of ballsing it up and Hawke was the master at that.

“You’re you, and I can’t change you, your desire to save people. I wouldn’t want to change you for anything, Princess. But don’t lose yourself while saving others.”

One thing I never doubted though was that Sam loved the both of them. Josh was her soul mate, the lawyer, the sensible option, the man that was always there for her, picked her up when she was down and loved her unconditionally. Josh had the patience of a saint and was always waiting in the wings for Sam to make her choice. Josh was like that puppy at the pet shop, with those ever-hopeful eyes, saying please pick me. I adored everything about him. Hawke and Sam though had that undeniable chemistry, that sizzle and crackle that very few get, and yet they still had that platonic chemistry. Sam grounded Hawke as much as he could be, the lifestyle he had perpetuated his mistakes, his creative side made him that much more susceptible to outside influences and his past haunted him constantly. Hawke’s mind was a mess and his love life wasn’t much better.

“We met where passion forgot pain.”

This book was certainly a roller coaster of emotions. Mia Kayla put me through the wringer with this one, there are some fantastic highs and some incredible lows. What the author giveth one minute she taketh away the next. I loved, I cried, I was swooning, I was screaming, I was angry, I was sad…see what I mean, a plethora of emotions.

This was an honest and realistic culmination of Sam, Hawke and Josh’s story. Some parts I saw coming, others I didn’t. But I loved it all the same. I can’t wait to see what this author delivers next.

This book...my God...

I loved book #1, but Choosing Forever tore me in half. I knew which side I was on early in the story, but Mia wrote Josh so perfectly: sweet, earnest, humble and HOT. I fell in love with both him and Sam pretty hard. You get Sam on such a personal level, and feel all the confusing back and forth along with her. Choosing Forever was a beautifully written story that had my heart in my throat and tears flowing down my cheeks.

I loved this duet, and Choosing Forever deserves WAY more than 5 stars.

I read a lot of books so it's rare for me to close a book and know immediately that it's one of the best books I've ever read.... but with this book I knew instantly. It's that crazy good. I just want everyone to read this duet, absolutely everyone. It just does everything right. It is simply one of the most beautiful romances I've ever read. Actually it's maybe two of the most breath-taking romances I've ever read, which is why I was so blown away.

I know not everyone loves a triangle...read this one anyway. I know people like the concept of a once in a lifetime love that is like nothing the H/h have ever experienced before....read this book anyway. I know not everyone embraces the idea that you can love two different people for very different reasons at the same time....READ. IT. ANYWAY !!!

This book took my breath away...over and over. It made me smile and swoon and laugh and cry and scream and sob and question everything. I'll be honest, I finished Choosing Forever a while ago and I am still thinking about it. A year from now I will still be thinking about it. It immediately claimed a spot in my all time Top Ten. This book.... these feelings... this emotion.... THIS is why I read.

GAHHHHH! After reading book one and the crazy ending I was on pins and needles waiting for book two. And let me just say.... It did NOT disappoint. I was completely hooked from the beginning to the end. If you have not read book one please stop reading here. It could contain spoilers from the first book.

Just when everything seems to dark and fading fast theres always some light at the end of the tunnel. But with this book, there are so many ups and downs I was reeling. The characters are amazing and I loved them ALL! Even when some are being total d bags. Hawke and Josh are both good in their own ways and I couldn't choose who I wanted to get the HEA. But the way it turned out was amazing. I loved how it ended. Although it was super sad at times and I most definitely shed a few tears.

This was a deeply emotional read. It took you on a journey with highs lows and everything else in between. I didn't envy her at all. Making those tough decision and hoping that she was right in her choice. I literally wanted to scream and throw things at certain points in the book. Then when I was mad another thing would happen and I was completely smitten.

These two books are some of the best Ive read and Mia Kayla has secured a fan in me. I will constantly be checking to see what she delivers next. This duet as all the feels and I couldn't get enough! Theres struggle and strife, theres happiness and complete and utter joy. GREAT READ!!!!

And you thought Torn Between Two was intense. Pshh, you haven't seen anything yet!!! Drama, drama, drama in the best way possible! I avoid drama at all costs in real life so the more I have in a book the more I love it!!! And boy does Sam, Josh, and Hawke not disappoint.

So this picks up right where Torn Between Two leaves off. Is Hawke or isn't Hawke? I know that's the question everyone wants answered. That being said, I'm going a different way with this review so I don't give that answer away.

One thing I've learned from both of these books and these three characters. Love is real, even if it's not always in the capacity that it's needed to be. Sam is learning that. Who is better for her? Who isn't? She has two good guys who both want her. Ok Josh is seriously my favorite and he's the best and the sweetest and amazing but I can't count Hawke out. I've learned something very important from Hawke. Second chances are to never be counted out and as I said everyone loves, just in their own way. Even Hawke. I always wanted to like him but I always loved josh more. But it doesn't make Hawke a bad guy. And Sam, she gets chance after chance because of Josh's unconditional love. He loves her no matter what. And Sam, she decides it's time to give herself a second chance.

These three have battled it out, a life in in the balance, and a triangle is about to be figured out. What will happen and who will Sam choose? Figure it out now!

ARC received in exchange for an honest review

This story continues from where the previous one ends off. And although I want to write an in depth review, I cannot do that, because what I want to say will just give away everything

All I can say is that this one is filled with Drama, Drama and more freaking Drama! It's so difficult to decide which one Josh/Hawke.
I think I loved Josh but I mean who can resist a bad boy?

But I loved Sam an Josh together. I think that they were perfect for each other.

All I can say is this book kept you guessing! Back and forth all the time. But it was written in a way that made you feel each character so personally that every time something happened it's like your heart was breaking and you would want to cry your eyes out

Amazing story, beautifully written and a fantastic journey

Definitely would recommend this book to everyone!!

Review by Lisa Kane

At the end of the first book I was more than a little shattered. I was team Hawke, then team Josh then team no one. I didn't know who to trust and who would be standing at the end.

Expect to have your heart pulled apart. It's gonna hurt girl, I won't lie. There were parts of this book that I felt such betrayal and such anger. Then my eyes would get wet and I would regret the way the story was going.

When an author makes me feel, deep down past my knees to my toes kind of feel-that's the kind of author I will follow. This duet was so much more than the usual bad boy/good boy who will she choose storyline. I was exhausted by the last page but was so sorry to see the story end!

After what seems like weeks of not being able to have most books hold my attention, this duet not only held it but has caused a major book hangover!!!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the thing about love triangles is that someone always, always gets hurt. You just hope it's not "your person" and if it is, you hope that maybe someday down the road the author will take mercy and give that character a HEA.

This story was a roller coaster of emotions, I rooted for all three characters at different times for different reasons. Hawke, the rock star with a tortured soul, who you hoped had the strength and courage to do the right thing.

Josh, the guy with a heart of gold, who was sweet and charming and had the swoon factor. You just couldn't help but fall in love with him.

And Sam, at times I felt for her and the predicament she found herself in. At other times I was like "Wake the hell up, Samantha"

This story is suspensfully nerve wracking, it will hold your attention and take you on a journey you might not be ready for. You will swoon, get angry, cry and maybe even hold your breath trying to figure out which way the story ends.

I have kind of a flaw when it comes to books in that when I begin a series I have to see it through even if I don't love it or hate the story content. I kind of knew going into this "torn between two lovers" trope how it would end up, there's only ever one ending it's why I don't like a spare in the H/H dynamic because what the author has to do is have you attach to both candidates first before the heroine makes her choice, it splits the audience because someone always loses out.

Inevitably one has to die so the heroine will choose the remainder. I never like that.
it makes for a dynamic story, but it's just not for me.

For what it was it was an okay fast read and I completed the series, but that kind of trope is not what I enjoy in my romance stories.

Unexpected

This book was a lot different from the first part in almost everything - the pacing, angst, character development...it almost fell like I was reading another story with the same character. Not that there was discontinuity in the story. Far from it. The story picked up right where the last book had stopped. But I could see feel that the story probably played out very different than what the author had planned while writing the first book. I, for one, didn't see expect the story to change tracks and become so angst filled and 'serious'? it was nice, I am not saying it wasn't good, it was just too different and I since I couldn't mentally prepare myself for it, somehow I felt a little disappointed with how Hawke's character was handled.
As much as I loved Josh ( and I still do, even more after the second book ), I didn't think Hawke's character was done great justice.
< Spoiler alert > I couldn't see him as a lier and a manipulator. I mean, going by his profession, I can understand that but still he wasn't portrayed as a junkie in the first book, and even if here, it seemed more like he was trying to change for Sam and though he was very unclear and confused most of the times, I could connect with his honest efforts and his true feelings for his Sunshine, but in this book, it was established that he was lying to her all the time about the drugs. ( And did he cheat on her as well? it was hinted at, but not laid out). And that somehow doesn't add upto what was shown in the first book. Though Hawke wasn't portrayed as a antagonist, I didn't quite like his character dismissal) Or maybe, it was all done to show how young and naive Sam was back then to blindly believe and fall for him time and time, over and over again. That kind of makes sense, but still....
Josh was not so surprisingly awesome in this book. Any girl would love and want a guy like him. He is in all ways - Mr Perfect. Hands down one of the best character.
Sam was more matured in this book - stronger, and more sensible. I have no comoalints against her. She was an interesting protagonist.
This book didn't have much of background family stories and there was a lot happening and seemed shorter compared to the first one. There are quite a few curve balls thrown here and there ( especially towards the ending ) but it all sums up beautifully and had me sobbing when I read the last chapter. Overall I loved the duet.

4.5 stars!

I started reading this book as soon as I had finished the first book! The first book was left at quite the cliff-hanger, so I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next! After reading, I can say that I enjoyed this book just as much as the first book! The plot developed at the perfect pace and it only took me a few sittings to read! I also loved the direction that the author took the plot in because it was unexpected and it did leave me with my mouth hanging open! The main character also did something that I didn't completely agree with, but I'm not going to say what because it's a potential spoiler lol! The plot also had quite a few twist and turns, and there was a big twist that I really didn't see coming! It really changed the plot and it actually made me get quite upset! I loved the plot though and it was quite emotional! I almost cried at several points lol! There were some really hot scenes in the plot too, which I loved! The characters were again amazing and made this book even better! Samantha 'Sam' was again the main character, and in this book she went through a lot of emotion and went through quite a few big changes in her life! She had also grown a lot from the girl introduced at the beginning of the first book and she knew more about what she wanted in her life! I also admired Sam because she did pick between her two love interests and I think that she made the right choice for her and her future, even though it was a very hard choice for her! I connected with Sam all the way through this book too! The love triangle was of course back in this book! Hawke and Josh were again the love interests of Sam! Both guys were seriously hot and Hawke was again the bad boy and Josh was the good, stable guy! I will admit that both guys were still going through their own things in this book and Hawke did go through a very tough time! Sam tried to be there for both guys, but because she was in the middle of both guys, she couldn't help one without disappointing the other! This did make me feel sorry for Sam because she did try her best! It was also easy to see that both guys had strong feelings for Sam and loved her! This book was again only written from Sam's point of view like the first book was! I wasn't sure whether it was going to be written from only Sam's point of view again or have a few chapters be written from Hawke and Josh's point of views too! I did understand why the author only wrote it from Sam's point of view and it made more sense after I read the book! I'm also really sad that this is the final book in this duet! I've loved reading it and the main character had come a long way and learned a lot, so I'm sad that it's over! The ending was left at the perfect place though and summed up Sam's story beautifully! I also can't wait to check out this author's other books! I haven't read anything else from her, so I can't wait to see what other books she's released! I can't wait to see what she's going to release next too! The cover for this book suits it perfectly! It looks perfect with the cover for the first book and I love it a lot! The model is also perfect for Sam!

I give Choosing Forever: Book 2 of the Torn Duet 5 stars for picking up where Torn Between Two ended and taking me on an emotional roller coaster ride. All the characters involved we're fantastic and the storyline was amazing.

Mia Kayla has done a wonderful job of finishing this series. Although I didn't see it ending this way, I loved it and made me actually love the characters even more.

At twenty four years old, she was stuck between two men—two men from opposite spectrums of the universe. Their lives, their worlds, their demeanour are as different as the darkest of nights and the lightest of days. She loves them both, but needs to choose. There is only one choice she can make, choose forever. But one lousy night and she is left alone and depressed. Is there a happily ever after for her?

Hawke, ever the rock star, keeps contacting Sam and arranging to get together. Almost every time, she leaves feelings destroyed. Hawke Calvin has never been denied what he wants. Whatever he wants, he takes. What more can he take from her?

With Josh, being with him is effortless, as easy as taking in her next breath. He is always there for her, when she needs him. He holds her hand when she's down, he wipes her tears when they fall. But, she has always seen him as a friend. Will she ever see him as more than a friend?

Choosing Forever: Book 2 of the Torn Duet is a contemporary romance novel that completes this series. A love triangle with many twists and an ending you don't see coming. Awesome.

I really enjoyed this book and fell in love with these characters.

Choosing Forever is the second book in Mia Kayla’s Torn Duet that focuses on Sam’s decision between what her heart wants and what her head knows is better. It’s a story of growth, unconditional love, and family no matter how convoluted those things can be. Choosing Forever picks up exactly where Torn Between Two leaves off. You must read Torn Between Two before this new release.

Kayla does an exceptional job at reaching past her familiar happily ever afters and digging a bit deeper to reveal the angst ridden decision making a young woman must do to go after a real love. The emotions in this book are such a rollercoaster ride, harsh at times, but oh so sweet at others. Sam, Hawke and Josh’s story will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page dwelling deep within your heart.

I couldn’t begin to say enough wonderful things about this amazing duet. The complexity and depth of character astounds me. It’s reminded me exactly why I come back for more with each new release by Kayla. Dont hesitate. Order up both Choosing Forever and book one- Torn Between Two today. You don’t want to miss out!

When I read the first book I had to dive into this one to know what was going to happen. To say this book blew me away is an understand statement. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail because the first book was a Love triangle and what this phone picks up right where the first one left off.

I had the feels with book were amazing! I can't even talk about it with out getting the chills so this review will be short. Sam worked so hard to get her own fairytale and it wasn't an easy journey for her, but by the end she got her happy ending.

Overall, the author did an amazing job with the plot and the tough subject that was presented in both books. I'm sad that it was only a duet. I can't wait to read other books by this author! 4 stars because I wish some things had been expanded on more then they were. #2OCCJD

A Great Ending

This is the second book from the Torn Duet and and it picked up where book one left us with such a cliffhanger!! How to pick? Would you want the handsome, caring Josh who knows how to truly love a woman working his way through law school so he can help children OR do you pick the hot rock star who is definitely on the road to self destruction and has you believing that he would change his bad boy ways if you would stay by his side.

There are so many ups and downs and surprises that leave you with your mouth hanging open. You will feel true love, deceptions and heartbreaking scenes that will have you turning pages as fast as you can to see where this author is going to take you.

3.5 STARS!

I must admit, it took me a couple of days to really wrap my mind round this book series before I could write a review. I read them back to back, and I'm so glad I did because there is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of book one.

For starters, let me say I love all things Mia Kayla. She's a phenomenal author, and this book series showcases her talent. From a strong story line, a good pace, and a beautiful prose, Mia once again delivers.

You have a bit of sweet, a bit of naughty, and a whole lot of spice. Though I will admit, I struggled some with the heroine and her choices, my attention was never lost and I kept going, because I had to know things were going to end.
