The Sutter Family #1

Catching Raindrops

Rate this book
***This book may be read as a standalone.***
Ever feel like your entire life has been planned out for you before you were even born?
As the only girl in the Sutter family and daughter of an ‘almost Olympian’, my parents have always had goals for me. I never questioned them and always strived to be the best. I thought I knew what I wanted in life until I didn’t.
One mistake, and the straight path I had planned was suddenly crooked. Goals that I’d worked for since I was little didn’t seem so important anymore; And the one place I never thought I’d go back to was the only place I wanted to be… home, where I found comfort in the most unlikely place.
At six years my senior, Brock Foster has always been unattainable. He was the boy that filled my fantasies. I resigned myself years ago to never feel his touch, never know what his kisses were like, or to have him wrap me in his arms. I never thought when I came home that he would still be there, or that he’d remember me.
Sometimes the future that we think we want isn’t what we need. Sometimes those bumps and turns mold us into who we were always meant to be, and sometimes they lead us to who we should have always been with.
Brock Foster helped me to embrace my path. He taught me to stop and catch the raindrops, and open myself to love again.
***This book contains profanity and graphic sexual encounters. It is intended for adult readers.***

Review by Lisa Kane

I loved this author's Shattered series so I was excited to learn that the main characters' children would be getting their own stories. First up is Nick and Leah Sutter's daughter Emma. Nick was a big deal in football and Emma was a great track star. Now Nick coaches and Leah works besides him and takes care of their younger son Ryan.

When Emma was thirteen a new family moved to the neighborhood. Eighteen-year-old Brock Foster is the closest thing to a true life god that Emma has ever seen. She's not exactly subtle about hiding her crush on him, but as much as she fantasizes that he would be interested in her someday, she knows it's just not going to happen. He went away to college, she grew up, had a few boyfriends and left for college.

He lived a few houses down, and was "the new kid" in the neighborhood. He was a lot older than me, but my thirteen-year-old heart didn't seem to understand that.

Emma's been away at Eastman University on a lacrosse scholarship but she's decided to go home. Her break up with her boyfriend Jordan was a complicated one and she just needs some space from the whole thing. It doesn't take very long for her to run into Brock again. Seems he moved back to her hometown a little while ago and it's obvious he's more than aware that little Emma Sutter is all grown up.

Emma Sutter grew up and she was hot!

Brock knew all about Emma's crush on him but never gave it much thought. The five years' difference in their ages at that time might as well have been twenty years. But now those years don't seem to matter much.

She was finally old enough to be more, and if part of her still held onto the feelings that she'd had back then, I knew I stood a chance.

But Emma is holding back on telling Brock about her break up with Jordan and just how bad it was. Brock has a few secrets of his own, but he's afraid if he tells her about them, she won't want to keep seeing him.

I'd thought I could do this, but the longer I hid who I was from her, the worse it was getting. I knew I needed to fess up and lay all the cards out, but part of me was worried that she'd stop whatever this was before it really started.

Catching Raindrops is sweet, slightly angsty and continues the sage of the Sutter family. I'm waiting for the next story coming up- Aaron (Emma's cousin-Cam's son) and Mel's. (Emma's college roommate)

"Let"s catch the raindrops together."

Emma Sutter has had a huge crush on Brock Foster since she was 13 years old, but he was six years older than her, so after he left for college, she moved on with her life. Now she's come back home after her first year of college, with her heart broken, after one mistake knocked her off the path that she was determined to take. Right after she got home, she met up with Brock again, only she didn't recognize the boy who filled her fantasies for years. They go out, and he provides the healing balm that her soul needs. Emma hasn't told anyone what went down to make her run home, including Brock. However, Brock has some secrets of his own. When these secrets are revealed, will it derail Emma once again?

I couldn't get enough of this story, so I devoured it in one sitting, as it was FANTASTIC! First of all, the well placed humor had me laughing so hard that my sides still hurt! Like spit your drink out, snorting hilarious banter. The emotional angst is so powerful that I felt the pain through my kindle physically. Flammable chemistry was so thick, that I was sure my kindle was going to self destruct before it EXPLODED into FIERY HOT FLAMES of panty destroying sexy scene goodness! I love H. D'Agostino's brilliant writing style, and she didn't disappoint one bit with Catching Raindrops! If everything I said above isn't awesome enough, a few diabolical twists had the f-bombs flying out of my mouth loudly! I really really really want more of Emma and Brock (hint hint), but I'll be satisfied if the next book comes out quickly! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I love stories like this one. Where it's the daughter of a football coach and she has a crush one of the players. Then they grow up. This story is so much more than that.

Emma Sutter has grown up around football and football players her whole life. Her dad is the high school football coach so football and/or other sports are in her blood. She has always been her dad's princess and therefore boys were scared off of showing interest into Emma. So Emma goes away for college - to escape her father's protectiveness.

Emma comes home suddenly due to events that happen in college and decides to spend the summer with her family. There she comes across Brock Foster - the boy Emma always had a crush on when she was a teenager. Brock is back home due to a football injury that ended his college football career.

This was a great book with some surprises I didn't see coming. I can't wait to see Aaron and Mel's story!

Catching Raindrops by HD’Agostino
I received this book for an honest review.
Oh boy Nick Sutter there is a new Alpha in town. Who cares that he is a former student, good friend and trusted member of your football staff…he is going to become you enemy to the 100th degree!!! Ok it’s not THAT serious but when a man makes a play for your baby girl……daddy isn’t going to like it or him very much!! Yeah can you tell I loved seeing Nick get so fired up and having Leah there to “talk him off the ledge” so to speak!!??
Emma Sutter loved Brock for as long as she can remember but given there was a 5 year age gap there was no way anything was going to happen plus it’s not like he thought of her that way.
Brock Stone always was drawn to Emma but she was hands off for 2 reasons : her age and her daddy!!
When Emma is in college but returns for the summer the two have a chance meeting. He knew her right away but she wasn’t so sure. The chemistry is there and crazy thick. They start sneaking around behind old dad’s back. Brock and Emma are falling fast and hard but the sneaking around is wearing Brock down. When Emma is about to come clean to her folks about Brock, her past comes crashing down hard all around her. Secrets she never wanted told are revealed and she is left drowning. Brock is a mess and confused.
This book makes my heart so happy but I am left confused….do I stay with Team Nick or do I jump on to Team Brock? Any fan of the Shattered Series will be as excited as I was to read this book. I loved revisiting all of my old favorites, plus seeing their kids grown up. I can’t wait for Aaron and Ryan’s books because those boys…..especially Aaron are trying my nerves!!!! Kick his butt Mel!!!
My favorite scenes : The letter Leah gives to Em…teary I tell ya annnd the Epilogue. OMG Nick Sutter you are a trouble maker!!!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader’s Copy of this book.

Returning to the Sutter family is like returning home. Seeing Emma all grown up is wonderful.
Coming homework the summer after being away at school Emma is hiding a lot from her family and when she does tell them she doesn't tell them everything about why she came home. No one knows the whole truth but her.
She doesn't expect to find the boy of her teenage dreams has come back to town and is all grown up and looking yummy. She wasn't looking for love, but that is what she found.
Brock wasn't looking to find someone, he especially wasn't looking to start dating Emma Sutter. He remembers her as a teen, and now that she is all grown up she just...........
But he knows when she finds out his secret it's gonna be bad, heck when her dad finds out he's gonna be dead. Why? Because Nick Sutter is his boss!!!!
D'Agostino never fails to make me cry, even if she isn't trying too.
Emma and Brock are hot and sweet rolled into one. Nick and Leah are everything they were in their story, but better as parents.
When Emma has to explain the real reason she came home for the summer, her parents are unbelievably supportive of her and Brock shows what a true man is by listening and following his heart.
When she goes back to school will they be able to make a long distance relationship work? Are her parents still going to support their relationship or will her dad make it so hard for Brock that he has to quit his job?
I'm not telling!!!! However, I will tell you this; if you've never read The Shattered Series, which is about Emma's parents, you can totally read this book. It's the start of a totally new series and you will not be lost.
Im looking forward to the next book and I hope that Mel puts Aaron in his place.

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.

I loved the Sutter family so to be able to see their children grow and watch their parents struggle with the children's decisions was amazing. They are my family I feel what they feel.

Emma went away to college but is now home on summer break. Something happened that changed her but she is not saying what. She is keeping that secret locked up close to her heart. Emma wanted to get away forget the past go back to what she knows and loves her family. What she doesn't expect it to fall for a man let a lone Brock Foster her first crush.

Brock Foster is back in his home town working for Nick Sutter when he runs into Emma Sutter his world is shifted. He has feelings for Emma but with her age and her dad being Nick she has always been OFF LIMITS and even though they are older same rules apply since he now works for Nick. This has trouble written all over it.

I am Team Brock all the way he stole my heart after reading this one. I loved seeing Nick deal with his daughter and her issues. I also enjoyed meeting Emma's best friend Melinda and cannot wait to see what is in store for her. There were some great scenes in this book that had me crying and laughing. nick has not changed I don't think he ever will, he will always be a kid at heart. I am so excited to read more about these Sutter kids. I have a feeling I will want to do harm to Aaron when his book comes out but somehow I think Mel will turn him around.

I absolutely adore Heather D'Agostino's books. I have to read the Shattered series but if they are anything close to Catching Raindrops, the spinoff of the Shattered series which chronicles the children of the families in Shattered, there will be no problem. One of my favorite types of stories, first love that gets a second chance. Emma has been in love with Brock since she was 13 years old. He would run past her house each day while training for football. He was 5 years older and would never be interested in her except in her dreams. To Brock, Emma was the coaches young daughter but as the years past Emma turned into a beautiful woman. He knew he had to have her but she was off limits - she was the coaches' daughter. Emma had suffered a life altering event at school, one that caused her to give up lacrosse and her scholarship. How could she tell her parents, how could she tell Brock? She was finally living her dream but would have to give it up sooner or later. What could have happened that could cause such devastation? Heather D'Agostino has a way of bringing out the "feels" in me. Yes, I now must go "back" and read the Shattered series! I am a Heather D'Agostino junkie....

Chasing Raindrops is another hit from H. D'Agostino. I started it intending to get a few chapters in before bed, but the next thing I knew... four hours had passed and I was done!
Emma has crushed on Brock since she was a pre-teen. Brock was older than Emma and only saw her as a child and his coach's daughter.
When Brock goes off to college, Emma moves on with her life and has real relationships throughout high school and college... until the bottom drops out of her works and she suddenly comes home.
A chance meeting has Emma remembering her first crush and Brock thinking the woman in front of him is worlds apart from the child he remembers.
Both are hiding things but is it finally their time for love?!
When secrets are revealed choices need to be made.
Chasing Raindrops was a beautiful love story about first loves, changing paths, family, forgiveness, and forever love.
Easily a 5 Star read!
Highly recommend!

Catching Raindrops is a spinoff of the Shattered series. I loved the Shattered series. Nick and Leah are some of my favorite book characters so when I saw their daughter was goign to get her own book I couldn't wait for it to come out. Catching Raindrops is a standalone and the beginning of the The Sutter Family series. You don't need to have read the Shattered series to enjoy this one.

Emma is Nick and Leah's daughter. I loved Emma. She's a little bit sassy but still a down to earth girl. After making some difficult decisions, Emma is home for the summer. She runs into Brock. Brock is the guy that has been untouchable. He's older then her but she's had a crush on him since she was a teenager.

Brock is super sexy. He likes Emma. There is a little bit of sexual tension between the two of them. Brock has reasons why Emma should be off limits. He listens to his heart when it comes to Emma. They have there up and downs and their fair share of things to deal with.

I really enjoyed reading this one and can't wait to read Aaron's story.

A captivating story of young love.

Emma has always had a crush on Brock but he was older and unobtainable. When she quits her lacrosse scholarship after events at college leave her heartbroken, she returns home to find Brock has also returned home. Could this be their chance?

Both Emma and Brock are engaging characters that have you routing for them. They have to contend with an over-protective father and some secrets along the way. For me it was Emma's parents that gave this book an edge with their playfulness and public displays of affection.

If you like sports in your books, then this has it. If you're looking for a sweet couple then this has got it. If you're looking for engaging writing then this has it. If you're looking for a setting that adds to the romance, then this has it.

I thought Catching Raindrops would have more depth as a story. Unfortunately I found it a little shallow and I believe it wasn't written very well. I was not happy or satisfied with this book. I felt like some things were missing and mainly a big connection between me and the characters. A couple of days after finishing the book, I realized I forgot what was going on with the story and I had to read the blurb to be reminded. I am not happy about Aaron either and he is going to be the hero of the next novel. I would have liked to read Jessie's book first. I liked the marriage Emma's parents had. I will read their book someday because they truly seemed happy and in love. I don't get why Emma was always saying how disgusting they were. She lived with them almost all her life. I got zero feelings from the book and because of that I wouldn't recommend it.

We get to read Emma's story! If you have not yet read the Shattered series, I recommend it before starting this book. Certain things that are mentioned will make more sense! She is Nick and Leah's first born. She is a miracle child. Nick certainly doesn't change in this book with regards to some of the things he says. I think I like Emma's friend Melinda, but the verdict is still out. Who is Jordan Douglas? What happened to cause Emma to quit the team she was on at college, losing her scholarship? What was the scholarship for? Who is Jess? I love that Aaron calls Emma on her BS. How do you forget someone you crushed on for years? Read and see what happens when Emma feels lied to. ENjoy the first of the Sutter family series!
