RATING 4.5 STARS

My Father’s Best Friend by Fiona Davenport is exactly what the title states. A taboo love between a man and woman who is seventeen years younger than he is, the long lost daughter of his best friend. It is short, oh so sexy, and oh so sweet. There is lots of growling and possessiveness and calling out, “Mine!” And I loved it!

My Father's Best Friend - Fiona Davenport

Eighteen years ago Samuel Wentworth was in love. And the woman he loved more than anything was also pregnant. But then she just disappeared. He spent the first several years using the company investigators to try to find her but after eight years, he hired his own investigator to look for his baby. That’s how he met Ethan Parker.

Taking a bubble bath for two.

Ethan is pretty sure he has finally found his best friends long lost daughter. But he wants to be sure before he tells Samuel. All it took, though, was one look and he was a goner. He will make her his, but how will his best friend feel when he finds out?

“You’re mine, baby girl. I’m keeping you,” I said in a tone that brooked no argument. “My heart knows you and right now, that’s enough.”

This is pretty short but I just can’t help it, I loved it. Once again we have an over the top, possessive, growly man with one purpose only and that is to get his woman pregnant. I loved that he did his best to dominate Delilah but this girl had some spunk in her and didn’t hesitate to let him know when he was going too far. I just can’t help but to love these. They continue to make me smile and make my days a little brighter.

“You are mine, baby girl. I’m keeping you.”

This is not your standard “best dad’s friend – little best’s friend’s daughter” story.
The girl, for starters, does not know who her real father is and consequently she does not know that the guy she starts a relationship with is her dad’s best friend.

The reason I love so much Daveport’s books is that most of them have this “soap-opera drama feeling” impeded. Let’s see the elements of this particular story:

-Unmarried, young, desperate mother- to-be runs away from the only man she loved, because of a devious lawyer.
- The desperate mother has her baby girl alone and she never asks for help while she has her little girl as a single mother.
-Later on, while she is helping other people with need, she gets cancer and she dies.
-Desperate father asks from his best friend to find his little girl.
-His best friend after 10 years of searching, he discovers the desperate man’s baby girl who is now 18 years old woman.
-Madly in love with her, the best friend starts a relationship with the young woman without telling her father. Oh, he also tries to make her pregnant.
-Father finds out about the relationship and there is some tension.
-Father finds out about the devious lawyer and there are a few punches.
-Marriage proposal, baby, another baby, the end.

I think “Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” have to start looking in romance books for fresh ideas.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK!

I don't think there is anything about this book that I didn't like. Honesty, since I am not bothered by the young woman older man storyline, there was nothing else to dislike.
Also, the fact that the hero only knew the heroine as an adult and NEVER saw her as a child helped increase my enjoyment of the book.
For me it's always a little iffy when the hero helps his friend raise his daughter and then they have a physical relationship.
HOWEVER, I WAS SO RELIEVED THAT THEY'RE MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THIS STORY!
description

Now the story is a fairly straightforward one with the hero Ethan being hired to find his best friends long lost daughter. Ethan has been searching for many years and finally, thanks to an obituary in a newspaper announcing the death of her mother, He is able to find her.

However, Ethan was not prepared to find the fully grown woman he meets in Lilah. He was expecting a child or even a teenager. She is his dream girl and his only thought upon seeing his "baby girl" was "I was going to do whatever it took to make Lilah mine."

description

The heroine, Lilah may be very young at 18 but she has her own ideas about her future and it's one that would have most single men running for cover.

On their one and only date she says: "I shouldn’t have mentioned marriage. It’s too soon to be talking about—not that you would want to marry me—oh, sweet heaven, please let a hole in the earth open up and swallow me now.”
She doesn't want college or a career, she just wants a family and love.

description

The hero Ethan hears this and he is more than will to give her want she wants he says "You are too young, too beautiful, and I’m nowhere near good enough for you. But fuck, Lilah, I can’t resist you.”
The only problem is HER DAD AND HIS BEST FRIEND!
How will he react to the news that "I was fucking his little girl, doing my best to put my baby in her, and would be taking her away from him when I put my ring on her finger."?

description

I loved this book with just a little bit of conflict to keep it spicy and my mind engaged. It was a sweet story and once again FIONA DAVENPORT DELIVERS ANOTHER WINNER FOR ME!
AWESOME!
Thanks for this fantastic story Ms. D.

Safety: hero is a manwhore in his teens but he has been celibate for over 6 years and the heroine is a virgin. No OW/OM drama and condoms mentioned but not used. I have a feeling he used them in his past as well. I forgot to say there are NO ELEMENTS OF Ddlg despite the name baby girl.

4.25 Smutty Taboo Stars

I love a good taboo smutty read, and that’s exactly what Fiona Davenport gave me with My Father’s Best Friend.

Super sexy, sweet, smutty and quick insta-love read! Perfect as nighttime treat after a stressful day – or even you had a fantastic day. It really was a feel-good, fast paced and full of sexy times that will leave you tingly, and in a need of a refreshment. LOL

Ethan and Delilah were fantastic, they were instantly drawn to each other and gave in to their instincts almost right away. Personally, I didn’t feel their chemistry was as OTT as Fiona Davenport got us used to, or maybe it was the huge age difference between the couple, but nonetheless they were sizzling HOT together, specially given the forbidden /taboo romance factor! The main issue that bothered me, and I wish it wasn’t such a descriptive part of story was her father, and his love story with Delilah’s mother, Bonnie. There were a lot of points there that go against what I prefer in my romance reads – fortunately the main story wasn’t focused on them – and for me, the heroine was far too fast to forgive and forget her father’s wrongdoings or negligence, not even demanding much explanation upon first contact.

But don’t let this small pet peeve of mine dissuade you from reading this delicious story, because it represents just a small part of the it, and like I’ve said Ethan and Delilah are the main event, and what an event that is! Ethan was a true Fiona’s OTT obsessed alpha, with a extra dirty mouth to boot! I loved his growly, make-you-pregnant-asap ways! Delilah really was a lucky girl! ;) <3 <3 <3 <3

“You’re mine, baby girl. I’m keeping you,” I said in a tone that brooked no argument. “My heart knows you and right now, that’s enough.”

Not a bad book but to be honest, the story of the h's parents kind of turned me off from rating this higher, I don't know if anyone else will be affected by it or not but for me, I just couldn't get so into it because of it.

0/5⭐️ sorry bestie, but i feel physically disturbed after reading this one <\3

i’m so sorry, like i know you’re a girl boss for publishing and making money off your book, but dear fucking god that was torture.

there was 0 build up. no tension. no chemistry. so why did they like each other? who knows. it felt like i was reading the authors notes app where she was in the process of outlining her story 🥴

possessive men = hot
possessive men who demand you move in with them and threaten to get you pregnant all on the first date = not hot

also fuck you for making me read “baby girl” 46 times.

It was ok overall. Hero def an alpha and I adored him. Heroine was a little to much go with the flow for me. Any conflict that came up was almost immediately resolved. It wasn't very exciting.

I’m not always up to read books when the age gap difference is that big but well… Fiona Davenport wrote the book so of course I have to read it. Why? Simply. They always manage to leave me breathless and with a smile on my face and this time was no different.

As a private investigator, Ethan Parker has as one of his missions in life to find the lost daughter of his best friend. What he wasn't expecting was to fall in lust-love with her the moment he lay eyes on her. A feeling so intense that drives him to get her pregnant. Crazy, right?

I loved Ethan, he was crazy but funny and oh so sexy that I was up to play the role of the lost daughter just for him to talk dirty to me. LOL

Delilah falls hard and fast for Ethan but she isn’t that happy to know the connection he has with her father. You see, Delilah doesn’t think very highly of him since he abandoned her before she ever was born or that’s what she thought….

Delilah was this young funny girl who knew what she wanted. A family. What she didn't have growing up. And she wanted it with Ethan, and of course he was more than happy to give it to her

Short but spicy, My Father’s Best Friend will make you get lost in a forbidden romance that will not only make you fan yourself with the steamy scenes, but also make you laugh with the intensity of its characters.

Thank you for another great one, Fiona Davenport :)

I didn't really care about the actual focal romance, I was more involved in the story between the heroine's mum and dad.

Bonnie disappeared 18 years ago, pregnant from Samuel's life after she was threatened by his lawyer who said Samuel would divorce her once he got custody. The prenuptial states: "In the case of divorce, I had to prove my ability to provide for my child, in equal measure, what could be provided from her father."

In the present day she is dead. I felt for one woman here and it was her. She got played 18 years ago with fake news. Died lonely pining for the love of her life. Samuel moved on with Lola (engaged+she gets preggars) and she has a disloyal daughter who's fraternising with the enemy (when she didn't know the truth. Like honestly calling him "dad" 0.25 secs after meeting him).

And the h who got accepted to Harvard, Yale, Columbia & Princeton still doesn't manage to remember protection. Gimme a break.

May-December romance between Lilah and Ethan.
Ethan is sent to search for his friend Samuel's long lost lover. When he finds that she's passed away and has a daughter, he goes to meet her instead. After an insta-love/insta-lust scene at the funeral, they fall in bed together and then..well..breeding.
FD are one of my favorite author duos, and this tiny one kept me hooked too.
Once she returns back to her dad, they hide their relationship which leads to loads of sneaking around and dialogues like "I’ve filled you with a bucket-full of come over the last couple of weeks" *snort and giggle*
And the milky epilogue!
Enjoyed this book, and might like it more if I reread. Right now, all these short stories are a balm to my sore caveman bruised heart.
Safe read

5 Stars!

Fiona Davenport quickly became a favorite of mine with their sexy words and fast stories. Their books always promise quick, dirty, and the perfect happy ending.

My Father's Best Friend is the latest standalone novella that Fiona D. has released. In this book, we get one man and one girl who are going to forever change each other's world. And what started out with a purpose, quickly became so much more.

This book pulled me in from the very first page and before I knew it, I had devoured this entire book. Ethan and Delilah made me fall hard and fast... and boy did they make me swoon. And the heat? Holy smokes, they had me squirming in my seat!

Definitely one of my favorites my them and I cannot wait for what they release next.

I highly recommend this book.

Ethan Parker has been hired by his best friend to investigate the disappearance of his daughter after years of getting nowhere. Ethan thinks he finally has a lead that will pay off and then he sees Delilah Brooks, his instincts tell him she is the girl he is looking for but what he sees is all woman. Ethan knows that he has to reveal why he is there, but his heart is another matter and he is certain that Delilah is the woman for him. It is a complicated pursuit of the woman he loves while worrying about his best friends reaction.

I liked this one a lot. It was a bit quick but I felt like the characters had instant chemistry and liked that it was not smooth sailing. Looking forward to more by this talented trio.

Let me be frank. For 30% of the story I was less than pleased with the ages of the two characters. Not necessarily the age difference but their ages. Well Lilah's age to be more specific. However, the story is so expertly written and delivered that by 60%, her age didn't mean a hill of beans! Now that's a sign of a real author with real talent! Kudos to Davenport for weaving her magic again!

This is an instalove story and as I said the delivery is wonderful and realistic! The story is not rushed and honestly this story is better than some full length instalove novels I've read lately. I am beyond pleased and excited to recommend this gem of a story!

Five stars!

I really liked this one! Ethan is a private investigator. He's working on a case for his best friend, to find his friend's daughter. Except for one little problem. When he sees Lilah, he wants to keep her for himself!

Ethan is 17 years older than Lilah, but he can't help how he feels about her at first site. He needs to make her his, and hopefully put a baby in her, before he admits that he knows her dad. He tries to fight his feelings, but it's no use.

Lilah is freshly 18, and just lost her mother to cancer. She has never met her father, and she doesn't have a good impression of him from what she does know. She's trying to figure out what she's going to do with the rest of her life when Ethan shows up and sweeps her off her feet. But, he hasn't been completely honest with her.

This book had everything I look for in a Fiona book, insta-lust, inst-love, and a delicious alpha hero, who's also an amazingly dirty talker, and totally smitten with his woman. I loved the main characters' instant chemistry, and ease with each other. However, I wasn't crazy about how long it took Ethan to come clean with Lilah about the truth of how he came to know her. I also didn't like her "solution" of not telling her dad about their relationship right away. It just seemed to cause a ton of unnecessary tension.

The villain in this story was very unclear in his motivations, which was something else that bothered me a little about this one. You found out that they did it, but it was very unclear why they did such horrible things. I felt a little unfulfilled because of this, and not understanding the possible reasoning for everything that happened. Additionally, it just made me so depressed right from the beginning that Lilah's dad lost the love of his life, didn't have any idea why she left him, and never knew his daughter growing up. Not only that, but then Lilah's mom died before he ever found out what happened. I know they weren't meant to be the focus of this story, but it just put a little bit of a somber note over the whole thing for me.

I still enjoyed this one, and I will be thrilled to read the next goodies that come along from FD!

Fiona Davenport is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Short, sweet stories with an alpha male that loves his woman beyond question. Sometimes I want to read a book that won't take me forever to get through and will make me smile. Fiona Davenport does that.

This was really good. Totally taboo subject...Ethan is hired by his best friend to locate the woman he loved and lost and their daughter that he never met. When Ethan finds Delilah, he falls in love with her and she falls for him. He's not sure how to explain that he's her estranged father's best friend, so he holds off on that juicy tidbit of info for a bit. I loved how Delilah handled it when she did find out :) I also loved that Ethan did not want to hide their relationship.

If you are looking for a quick read with a HEA, this is it!

*thanks to Fiona Davenport for sharing this with me*

Great, quick easy read! I absolutely loved Ethan! He was such an alpha! My heart broke for Delilah, she had just lost her mother and now had her long-lost father searching for her. Ethan was her calm in the storm, but he also wasn't upfront with her! If you love a hot steamy alpha and a virgin heroine who is more than just a pretty face, this book is for you!

Sometimes you just need a fantastic, insta-love, completely over the top, age gap romance to make your life complete. Or at least your day. Oh, and don’t forget to throw in father’s best friend. Because this book checked all those boxes. Day. Made.

Steamy romance and the instant chemistry between both Ethan and Lilah had me salivating to see what would happen next between the two of them. I greedily inhaled this story and immediately went to get another book by this wonderful, new to me author the second I finished.

MY FATHER’S BEST FRIEND was a quick read and over the top in every best way possible. I am quickly becoming a fan of OTT romances and this author just picked herself up another fan. 5 Stars!

:/ ...so, huh?

wow, I know I should write a review about why I only gave 2 stars but as I sit here thinking if I am reading the same book that everyone else has with more stars to them...Im confused

I was excited to get this book not only because I have read all of Ms. Davenports books but because I love alpha insta-love smutty yumminess

just reading the Prologue had my attention...I was like yaaaas INTENSE but then it died there, I could not revive it ever

I skipped and skipped so many pages I thought it has to get better, right?...nope

spoiler alert:

let me first start by saying who in their right mind after burying their mother 2 minutes ago and is standing next to the hole that has been filled up, is already thinking about a guy who you have never met in your entire life and feel a connection right away at a cemetery...?...I would think you would be to torn up and in mourning in losing your mother that has battled cancer
but yet it is ok because it is what her mom would have wanted for her, to be with a stranger, invite him in to eat cake and hey accept a date not knowing if this guy is even safe...I mean, come on...then it is full of sex non stop and when she learns the truth, she doesn't even argue but agree to meet with her estranged father that in her mind had abandoned her and her mother but hey its okey dokey not arguing like...

where were you?
why now, why not then?
etc...but nope she agrees to stay with them and the new girlfriend like everything is ok

to sum it up...not one book I will be reading again...not like the others

Really liked this book. The first chapter broke my heart a bit, when Delilah's mom believed incorrect information about Delilah's dad and left while pregnant, not even talking to him first. Broke my heart for her mom and dad, because true love is hard to come by.

Delilah is a sweet 18 yr old that has just lost her mom, when Ethan "the bossy" finds her (for her dad) and decides he wants her permanently. Ethan is definitely very bossy, he lacks the charm of some of my favorite alphas....so then he came off just very, very bossy. But I pretty much was able to overlook it when he gave her the engagement ring....*sigh*....that really won me over.

Her dad was a real sweetheart and I was glad to see he finally got his HEA after the years he spent looking for her and her mom. And I loved when he was trying to protect his daughter and stood up to Ethan...love a great dad....and I think Ethan & Delilah appreciated it too.

One thing I absolutely loved, was seeing the bad guy get what he deserved...kudos for that, we as readers appreciated that...or at least I did.

Doormat meets older guy who likes his women wet and pregnant. This wasn't just bad, it was awful. So after she pops out two or three kids and isn't as tight as she used to be is this creep going to go grab another virgin? Or, cause he's a control freak and our poor doormat is still a doormat, maybe after he denies her another orgasm he'll beat some fuckin sense into her, cause now he's bored with the doormat and it helps to get him off.

There's romance and erotica and sometimes a melding of both. This was neither.

Once again the two brilliant authors who make up Fiona Davenport have added another hit to their writing repertoire. These two have been on a roll and I for one am definitely hoping they continue that way. This book contained one of my favorite sub genre which is older man/younger woman and I especially love that he was friends with her Daddy. Ethan Parker is a trust fund baby, he attended Harvard University. His parents died his freshman year and he went a little wild drinking and partying. He had to straighten himself out and graduate in order to obtain his inheritance. After graduating he started his own company, Parker Security and Investigations and left most of his vices behind. He became best friends with Samuel Wentworth 8 years ago when he was hired to track down Samuel's ex-fiancée and daughter. Delilah has just lost her beloved Mother to cancer and she's not so sure what the future holds for her. She's 18 years old and doesn't really want to go to college that was more her Mother's dream she wants to illustrate children's books. She meets Ethan at her Mother's funeral when he comes to pay his respects on behalf of a friend and he immediately sweeps her off her feet. Ethan left Texas to go to NYC to find out if the woman in the obituary was really Sam's long lost love. He never intended to fall in love with the daughter his best friend has never even met.
